Hans Haupt, who was limited by a war injury, was looking for a way to carry a walking stick and umbrella at the same time. So he invented a foldable umbrella that he could easily stow in his pocket and always have at hand when it rained.

Due to its compact size, Haupt affectionately called the umbrella"Knirps" - a term for "little guy", which later became the brand name. This practical invention was a novelty and had a lasting impact on the concept of the umbrella as flexible, mobile rain protection.

in 1928, Bremshey & Co recognized the potential of the "Knirps" and supported Haupt in the production of the first models. Thus began a new era: the foldable pocket umbrella was developed in various sizes and colors and became popular worldwide, revolutionizing the umbrella market.
